With its blue sea, fine sandy beaches, the old town and plenty of hip bars for coffee, juices and good food, Ibiza is an island where holidaymakers like to stay. You’d think all the places on the island have already been discovered, but nothing could be further from the truth. There are still undiscovered spots in Ibiza where you enjoy pristine nature and tranquility.
It hidden Atlantis, even if you know the way
Locals keep quiet about Atlantis, the hidden piece of Ibiza that is even tricky to find if you know where it is. This is because it is still pristine and very quiet. It’s a place full of rocks, some partially sunken in the sea. In the past, the boulders of Atlantis were used to build Ibiza city, now small bays have emerged where you can poodle in the water. Atlantis can be found by navigating to Sa Pedrera via a dirt road to a parking lot. You don’t get the car any further, so you have to go down on foot. The road is steep, difficult to pass and long. If you come across circles made of stones (hippies seem to hold ceremonies here), you are on the right track. Go down even further until Atlantis appears at your feet…
Aigua Blanques, favourite among the locals
This place is also difficult to reach and therefore relatively quiet, especially on the left side of the beach, beyond the rocks. Especially locals like to come on this golden yellow sandy beach in the northeast of the island. Aigua Blanques is officially a nudist beach, but you can definitely be on with swimwear. Early in the morning you enjoy a beautiful sunrise here and the underwater world is also very beautiful. Spread in with the mud of the cliffs, this seems to be very healthy for your skin. Only by car can you reach Aigua Blanques: drive towards Cala San Vicente until you come across a sign that Aigua Blanques is indicated on. Turn right on to the dirt road and park at the designated spot. Then you walk down a path and stairs onto the hidden beach.
Cala Xuclar, for the typical Ibiza feeling
Not many people know this green place, after some locals, virtually undiscovered! Cala Xuclar is a breathtakingly beautiful small bay with shallow crystal clear water, hidden between tall rocks. There are some fishing huts along the water, but that’s all there is to do or find here. In summer you can order a fresh fish from the only beach tent that is there and with a cool drink and your feet in the water that is also the only thing you need. You will get to this undiscovered spot in Ibiza by driving towards Portinatx and taking the Cala Xuclar exit where you end up at the bay via a very steep road.
